ONE YEAR 2 WIN EVENT HERALDS CAMPAIGN SEASON
The Party commenced the 2026 campaign season with the “One Year 2 Win” Fundraiser on November 18, introducing a new location, format, and several new participants.
This year's event emphasized networking and social engagement rather than formal programming or speeches.
Remarks were delivered by Sean Grorich, candidate for State Senate District 1 (pictured below), and Rick Crossen, candidate for U.S. House Congressional District 8 (pictured below).
The program also featured entertainment by comedian Mike Marvel, because as Jimmy Buffet so eloquently sang “If we couldn’t laugh, we would all go insane”.
Lovely venue, dinner and company at the Waterfront Uptown
Thanks to all who attended and to all those who participated in the live auction. Proceeds from the event exceeded that of prior years and will be well used as we launch our strategies to get Democrats and Progressives elected at all levels of our government.

INTERESTED IN RUNNING FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT? PLEEEZE?
Although the spring 2026 elections are all non-partisan, conservatives have managed to take control of all the boards in Kewaunee County. More progressive thinkers would be most helpful. There are really no prerequisites other than residing in the district you are looking to represent and wanting to make a difference for your neighbors.
Here are the races and what we know:
School Boards
Algoma has opening for two rural candidates. See more here:
https://www.algomawolves.org/district/school-board.cfm
Luxemburg Casco has three openings:

Kewaunee School Board has at least one seat ending this spring.
City/Village Boards or Councils
Algoma will be seeking a new Mayor and on City Council there are for alderperson positions whose terms expire. We are seeking progressive replacements for the 1st and 2nd Districts.

The Village of Casco looks like it will have at least one seat that terminates this spring.

City of Kewaunee Common Council looks to have 4 members whose terms are expiring in April that we’d like to find a progressive replacement; Mayor, 1st, 2nd, and 4th Aldermanic Districts.

The Village of Luxemburg has not posted any election information on their website, however like all others, Luxemburg will also have terms expiring. Contact Village Hall at 920-845-2722
Kewaunee County Board
Other than Joanne Lazansky, who represents the City of Kewaunee, we would support progressives challenging any and all of the existing County Board members.

COMMUNITY FORUM ON IMMIGRATION SETS THE RECORD STRAIGHT
52 community members attended the Community Forum “Immigration: Facts Vs Fiction” held on Sunday, November 9 at Algoma United Methodist Church. The Forum was presented by the non-partisan group Coalition for Humanitarian Immigration. The group provided well researched and data driven responses to the top misconceptions surrounding immigrants and immigration.
Throughout the 90-minute presentation the attentive crowd, many taking notes and photos, gained insight which included the facts that over three quarters of immigrants in Wisconsin are here legally and, nationally, pay into public benefit plans such as Social Security to the tune of $96.7 billion yet will never be able to access those funds.
Other topics corrected the misconception that undocumented immigrants can be on Medicaid- they cannot - and that immigrants are a drain on our economy when the opposite was shown to be true.
If you are interested in doing more to stand in solidarity with our immigrant neighbors, please send an email to Kewaunee.CHI@gmail.com
VOCAL LOCALS STOOD UP FOR OUR VETERANS!
On November 11th each year, our nation pauses to remember the men and women who bravely served in our military. Some were volunteers and others were drafted. Some served in combat and others in support roles behind the lines. ALL gave up part of their life to protect others. And some gave ALL.
This Veterans Day. to honor and thank these men and women a small, patriotic group of area citizens, demonstrated their thankfulness and support for veterans. It was a cold day and the wind blew strong, but this discomfort was nothing compared to what our soldiers, airmen/women and sailors have faced in places like the trenches of Northern France or the jungles of Vietnam, the depths of the Pacific and the skies over Germany. Passersby routinely gave us thumbs-up signs or honked horns showing support of our messages.
Veterans deserve the total support of our nation. They answered when called. They showed up for America. We need to continually show up for them. Please watch for details on, and support, our Vet-focused events throughout the year. Make it stand out
