SAVE Act The Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act was passed by the House of Representatives last week and has now moved to the U.S. Senate. This act would add more barriers to voting, such as:
Requiring every American citizen to provide specific documents, such as a passport or an original birth certificate, in person when registering to vote and whenever they update their voter registration Eliminating mail-in and online registrations Requiring photo ID in every state (WI already requires photo ID to vote) The SAVE Act would disproportionately impact people with disabilities, older adults, women who change their name when they get married, and other minorities. Millions of Americans do not have access to their birth certificate and obtaining a copy can be costly. Half of Americans, especially lower-income Americans, do not have a passport. Eliminating mail-in voting options and online voting registration adds transportation barriers that are already problems for non-drivers. A statement from the National Coalition on Accessible Voting with additional information on the ways the bill could impact people with disabilities can be found here: https://ncavote.org/resource/nosaveact/ If this is important to you, please contact your Senators. You can find contact information for your Senators here: https://www.senate.gov/states/WI/intro.htm.
Request Your Absentee Ballot Get ahead of the game by requesting all of your mail-in ballots for the year in just a few minutes. Visit MyVote.WI.Gov to request your absentee ballots for every election in 2026. Voting by mail in Wisconsin remains safe and reliable. Ballots have always been required to be received by Election Day, and that rule has not changed. To ensure your vote is counted, plan ahead and mail your ballot at least a week before the election or use a secure drop option if available. Visit Myvote.WI.gov to update your registration and request your absentee ballots for the year. -
