Updated 2026 Democratic Party of Wisconsin Platform and Resolutions
Every 2 years at the WisDems Convention, the Platform document is updated; the Resolutions document is updated annually. These are inspiring documents. These documents create the common language of our party and drive the work of the party and our elected officials. Democratic candidates should be well versed on these documents, and their campaign platforms should be consistent with and flow from the WisDems documents.
A Party Platform is a formal document outlining a political party’s core beliefs, policies, and election promises, serving as a roadmap for governance and voter guidance. The 2026 platform builds upon the 2024 platform document but also tackles and updates the content, including content on AI, ICE, etc. The 2026 Platform document is 6 pages long and is available by clicking here.
There are 5 platform concepts listed:
Our Commitment to Democracy
Justice, Human Concerns and Democracy
Education, Labor and Economics
Agriculture and Environment
Foreign Affairs
Party Resolutions are formal statements or decisions adopted by a political party’s leadership or governing body that express the party’s official position on a specific issue, policy, or course of action. They are a key tool for coordinating party strategy, setting priorities, and guiding members’ actions.
The 2026 Resolutions document is markedly different from the 2025 edition. There are 51 resolutions listed in the 16-page document. It is an easy read, though. The 2026 Resolutions document is available by clicking here. The 51 resolutions fall under 5 categories:
Justice, Humans Concerns, and Democracy (26 statements)
Foreign Affairs (1 statement)
Education, Labor, and Economics (15 statements)
Agriculture and Environmental (8 statements)
Party Governance (1 statement)
It behooves us all to at least be aware of these documents, at best to read the documents and use as tools for our outreach and communication. For the Kewaunee County Democrats these platform statements and resolutions should drive our strategic plan and actions.
